More Info About My Practice

The fee for therapy is $80 for individuals and $90 for couples for a 50-minute session. Payments can be made on the Soul Wisdom Therapy website via PayPal, or in person at with check or cash. I am unable to accept insurance at this time.

Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist

When choosing a therapist, it is so important to feel a safe connection with the person in whom you are confiding. You will know a therapist is the right fit for you when you feel you can trust the person with your emotions, you feel accepted, and you are also challenged in a way that fosters forward movement and personal growth toward the goals that you set. A good therapist will help you by asking open-ended questions, asking you about your opinions, values, and experiences, and introducing new perspectives that could help you see things in a different light.

Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed

Some people fear that seeking therapy is a sign of weakness or that it indicates you have an unhealthy personality, but everyone has doubts about themselves or their relationships at times. Seeking therapy is a very brave and enlightened step toward bettering your life and relationships because it means you are willing to face your difficulties and be open to change. Looking at ways to improve one's self is something that many people avoid, and in avoiding this people compromise their relationships at home, at work, and with friends and family. Most of all, avoiding ongoing problems and issues can result in chronic stress, depression, anxiety, loneliness, or feelings of being misunderstood, which can result in sleep problems and even illness! Avoiding problems may feel safer, but the cost is great and the rewards few.

Therapy can mean great improvement in some people in a matter of weeks. For others it can take longer. Some people stop therapy and then come back later to address something else, or just for a "tune up." There is no right way to do therapy except to be willing to be open to feelings, thoughts, and ideas. In the end, facing a difficult challenge takes a lot of courage and determination, and these are actions of strong individuals - people seeking something better for themselves and their relationships.
