What I Say to People Concerned about the Therapy Process

There is nothing greater than learning about oneself. The therapeutic process allows for self reflection and observations. By talking with a skilled professional, individuals are supported along this path to knowing who they are and why they do the things they do. It is a process, so there are going to be times that you feel like you are on top of the world and others where you may feel confused and frustrated. But please, don't loose heart. Rome was not built in a day. By going through the process of growth, you are conquering feats you probably never thought you could master.

Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed

Growing up in the South as a queer woman myself, I know first hand that a lot of cultures view therapy as a weakness. I understand what thoughts one might have and what your family and friends might say about you seeking treatment. It hurts and is confusing. Reaching out for professional support does not make you weak or flawed. On the contrary, it makes you stronger and more resilient to conquer your fears. It takes courage to ask for help, no matter what the struggle.
