We all long for an inner sense of well-being: peace of mind, meaningful connection, freedom to live fully. We all experience frustrations with that quest. Those frustrations can become anything from mild discouragement to bitter despair. What potentially can make this frustration difficult is feeling confused and lost, grasping for help but the grasping seems to make things worse.

Therapy is a perfect place to give your confusion and hurt a space to breathe, a place to experience compassionate understanding of yourself. There is meaning to your struggle. Therapy helps illumine what fuels your particular struggle and helps illumine a path to hope and wholeness.

I create a patient and safe place for you to be real. My approach to therapy is informed by various disciplines noted on this site. We work together to understand what you hope to gain in attending therapy and how we will help you get there.

On the Fence About Going to Therapy?

Conflicting feelings of starting therapy is understandable. On one hand, you feel stuck and wanting to get help; on the other hand, you have such thoughts as "Maybe things really aren't that bad" or "Can s/he really understand me and help" or "I'll get through this; it's going to be ok". I think it's best to press through your anxiety, be very open about your apprehension when interviewing a therapist, and pay attention to your intuition: does this therapist feel like s/he will be able to help.
