When top athletes want to get better at what they do they hire a coach. If you want to get better at (insert your own words here), I will work with you to become the most exceptional (version of) you! My career has been as a social worker working with all ages; children to seniors. It is important for you to feel understood, safe and at ease so I will take the time to get to know you in an environment of nonjudgmental acceptance. It is normal to feel fearful at the thought of change and talking to a stranger about personal issues can be difficult. You can decide what (and when) you are comfortable talking about and I will tailor my approach to your individual needs. Whether it be handling the natural ups and downs of life, maintaining well-being, having healthy relationships - becoming the best husband/wife/intimate partner, parent, coping with stress, or making good life choices. we will identify your strengths and build on them so that you can grow towards your greatest potential.

Children and youth can also face emotional ups and downs. I help kids deal with changes in the family, deaths, births, moving to a new home or school and parent's divorcing which can lead to anxiety and/or depression. I use play therapy techniques with young children who are not yet able to express themselves verbally. Parents can feel overwhelmed because their child is defiant, doing poorly in school/daycare, facing social rejection or they are being told by professionals that their child behaves "differently." I will work with parents and kids help improve the whole families quality of life.

More Info About My Practice

For couples either married or in long-term relationships I offer a brief, affordable, confidential consultation I call "The Relationship Check-Up" (RCU) which is based on James Cordova's "Marriage Check-Up. The RCU is intended for Well-Functioning couples. It is not part of a treatment program. The RCU provides personalized feedback identifying what you're doing that is keeping your relationship healthy and on track. "Wait and see" is a common way of thinking but a healthy relationship isn't something we just have or don't have, it is something we have to actively work at or it falls into disrepair. Once couples receive their feedback it is up to them to decide, what, if anything, to do with the information.

For parents struggling with children who display noncompliant, defiant, oppositional, stubborn or socially hostile behavior and/or are diagnosed with and "acting out" disorder (ADHD, ODD,autism spectrum disorder) I use a program designed by Russel Barkley. Using this empirically proven program, I assist parents to learn how to manage child misbehavior, minimize the extent of parent-child conflict which ultimately lessons the distress within the family.
