First I want to applaud you for taking the time to research the therapists on this site. By doing so you are already becoming an active participant in your own healing and growth. While reaching out for therapy can be scary it can also be fulfilling, encouraging, and life changing. I believe everything we do, and who we truly are, is a combination of our life experiences, our interactions with our environment, our relationships and our hopes and dreams. You have a unique identity which holds gifts, talents and strengths. I am passionate about helping others learn how their gifts, talents and strengths can be used to lessen the intensity of their challenges, while expanding their ability to enjoy life, healthy relationships and continued growth. Since each individual is unique, I believe it is my ethical duty to consistently learn new techniques so I can offer you a variety of options to meet your identified goals.
I have purposefully set up my practice to allow for both a quiet, safe and comfortable space allowing for contemplative communication, as well as a separate room where you can engage in your healing and growth process through hands on activities. I find that activities including elements of art, play, music, poetry, rhythm, movement, journaling and bibliotherapy often propel adults and children quickly through their insecurities, fears, traumas, pain and stress, and into a place of feeling empowered and motivated to enjoy healthy relationships and more of what life has to offer them.
As a therapist, I have 20 years of experience working with children, adolescents and adults who experience or have experienced emotional and/or behavioral dysregulation, depression, anxiety, relational conflict, grief and loss and/or an inability to reach their potential. I am a certified sand play therapist and have extensive experience developing creative and hands on activities to support my clients in achieving their goals for treatment. In keeping with my commitment to continually grow in my ability to offer my client's options for healing and growth, I am currently working on certification in the use of Expressive Arts in therapy. I am experienced in working with children of all ages as well as adults. I have extensive knowledge and experience with the IEP process and the Child Welfare System.

More Info About My Practice
After reviewing my profile (as well as the profile of other's on this site), and if you decide to have a trial therapy session with me, I will provide you with a warm and accepting environment where you identify your goals for therapy and together we will decide if I am the right therapist for you. If you decide to engage in your therapeutic process, with me as your guide, we will further identify your goals and discuss options to help you achieve them. I can offer you a comfortable, quiet space for insight orientated talk therapy and/or a separate room where you can engage in expressive and creative activities designed specifically to support your growth and/or healing goals. I find that most individuals benefit from a combination of the above. In the near future I plan to offer groups as well. The groups I will be offering will be designed to help break the stigma of reaching out for therapy, lessen the isolation that those struggling experience, increase the level of connection with others who have similar experiences and struggles, while also providing an opportunity for group members to share real life successes thereby providing hope to one another.
What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist
As a therapist I get be beside others as a guide, support and encourager, as they face issues which they may have suffered with or pushed away for so long they have become desensitized to the negative impact of such on their lives. I get to join with them as they heal from these issues so that they no longer have the power to hold them back from living the life they want. I then get to walk for a season with them as they identify their dreams, create a plan to achieve their dreams and relentlessly pursue their dreams. Usually it is at about this point that individuals will decide they have achieved the growth, knowledge, skills and healing they needed from therapy, and now it is time for them to continue the journey on their own. I love that time, when you no longer need me as your therapist. So in a sense, my goal is to work myself out of a job one person at a time.
