In my therapy practice I work in collaboration with the client to create a safe environment that is free of judgment. I always tell my clients that my office should embody at least one particular place to go in their lives in which they can feel comfortable in truly being themselves. The safe space that we create together often empowers clients in making important life changes and it supports clients in the healing process. I have been trained in and use well researched and evidenced based approaches to therapy. I also track the progress that my clients are making in therapy, often with the use of assessment measures. I routinely give my clients feedback on their progress in therapy. I am a member of the National Anger Management Association and I am a certified Anger Management Specialist, level 2.
As a member of the Gottman Referral Network, my work with couples is based largely on the elements of the Gottman Method. Dr. John Gottman, a leading expert on relationships, has devised a method of therapy based on his 40+ years of research on couples. Couples who engage in this style of therapy can expect to find a structured and evidenced based approach to working through relationship issues. I invite you to visit my website to view video clips of Dr. Gottman speaking about his research findings on couples.
A past educator, I equally enjoy working with children and adolescents. My work with children includes trauma, depression, anxiety, and learning and behavioral differences- including ADHD. I also offer therapy for transitional issues including bereavement and divorce. I have had advanced training in treating children with special health care needs and I am currently completing certification by the Child Conduct Clinic and Yale Parenting Center in the Kazdin Parent Management Training Method (KPMT). KPMT is a widely researched and often successful method in treating children with a host of behavioral health concerns including behavioral issues and ADHD.
