I realize that it is often very difficult to take this first step in trying to seek help for problems you have been unable to resolve on your own. As a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 30 years of mental health and substance abuse counseling experience, I believe that you CAN make changes necessary to improve your quality of life. My focus is helping you identify and implement practical strategies to solve problems, reach goals, and create lasting change to improve your relationships and life. I have helped couples improve communication, rekindle feelings of intimacy, and avoid patterns which may result in conflict. I provide professional and caring counseling in a safe, compassionate, and confidential environment that is respectful of your needs and desires.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
Some of my main areas of expertise are working with people with anger management, anxiety and stress problems. I utilize a variety of techniques including EFT Energy Tapping (based on acupuncture, you tap certain points, which reduces or extinguishes anxiety, trauma memories, and many other problems, often in just a few minutes), Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and relaxation skills training in addressing these issues.
Another focus of my practice is working with couples and families in conflict. I have been trained in Family Systems Therapy, conflict resolution, and communication skills. For over ten years I provided in-home family preservation services to help families avoid one or more of their children from being placed out of the home, due to abuse, neglect, or delinquency.
I have also worked a lot with those having substance abuse or addiction issues, having worked in the past in substance abuse specific programs, and have facilitated DWI and substance abuse groups.
i also have had extensive experience working with people with depression, anxiety, or other mood issues over my thirty years in the mental health field.
People I work with tell me that I am warm and compassionate, nonjudgmental, and make them feel comfortable, even while working on difficult issues.
