You don't have to feel alone with life's struggles and challenges become overwhelming. I love to serve as a listener who can help you make meaningful changes. I work to create trusting, accepting, strong relationships with each client I see. I enjoy helping adults and adolescents navigate challenges such as trauma, anxiety, substance abuse, depression, and life satisfaction. Though I'm a relatively new counselor, I've worked in mental health for six years, and learn innovative approaches to treatment each day.

I primarily rely on reality therapy, which enables people to exert better control over their choices and emotions on a daily basis. I also use cognitive behavioral and rational emotive behavioral therapies to help my clients recognize and change negative patterns. I run a client-centered practice, and believe that the therapeutic relationship is a key tool for healing. I also offer psychological evaluations to determine eligibility for spinal cord stimulators for those who suffer from chronic back pain. I can incorporate Christian counseling techniques for people who desire healing steeped in the Christian faith.

How Psychotherapy Can Help

Anxiety disorders, including phobias, PTSD, Acute Stress Disorder, OCD, etc. often lead people to isolate from their normal life, leaving the individual more anxious as they have disconnected from a support system. Psychotherapy can help with this in many ways. First, people learn to normalize their issues, meaning that they learn their emotions are very normal based on life experiences. Second, as we have learned through years of research and practice, isolation and avoidance only maintain the unwanted symptoms of anxiety. Psychotherapy allows people to safely confront those issues of anxiety and fear related to life events, through talk therapy in a safe environment free of judgment or conditions. Finally, having the support of an empathetic counselor can allow individuals to process distressing things and provide support to reach the other side of the uncomfort, to begin taking control of one's life back. There are many other ways that psychotherapy is effective, and most of those ways happen within the relationship created between the counselor and client. This relationship can be one of the most healing aspects of psychotherapy.
