Sometimes we need help from someone who has walked a difficult path and who truly understands what we are going through. I believe that connecting with you on a very "human" level is extremely important to moving forward in the healing process. I attempt to create a safe and nurturing environment that allows you to feel safe in your vulnerabilities and empowered in your choices. As we explore the presenting problems (as indicated by you), I attempt to help my you make connections and gain insights as to how your past is influencing your present. I believe that much of our pain is a result of past wounds being triggered by present events. I utilize sound psychological techniques combined with empathic understanding to help you find freedom and joy.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist
Personal experiences that resulted in depression, grief and broken relationships pushed me into counseling when I was 21 years old. Having a safe place to process through my own thoughts and feelings, as well as having someone who could see connections that I could not, was a critical factor in my own healing and subsequenly in my choice to become a therapist. I developed a passion to help others find the freedom i that I was able to find through my own process. Life offers challenges to each and every one of us and I am passionate about providing support and guidance to those who are willing to take the courageous step to be vulnerable and open themselves to personal and relational healing.
Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed
Taking the first step to engage in the counseling process can be intimating and at times, overwhelming. It can mean admitting that there are circumstances that feel beyond our control or acknowledging a sense of fear, powerlessness, or loss in our lives. Natural human instinct seems to be to withdraw or hide our problems from others in an attempt to avoid exposure and vulnerability. However, I believe this often leads to increased complications. These can be manifested in depression, anxiety or addictions. I believe that by reaching out and pursuing counseling you are taking the courageous step to connect with another person who can validate your experience, help empower you to make positive choices, and most of all, help you to see that you are not alone. We all have problems. We all struggle. Counseling can help you receive the support you need to find freedom, hope and joy.
