My approach to therapy is to meet my clients "where they are" and help them learn what they can control vs. what they can't control. I teach clients how to develop coping strategies to gain control over their thoughts and behaviors while learning how to let go of what they can't control. I use a Cognitive Behavioral approach to help clients manage stress, adapt to life transitions, and understand the underlying causes of their problems. I am goal oriented and want my clients to walk away from their sessions learning new tools they can apply towards any problem. I have much experience working with eating disorders and women's issues. I value the use of resources to give my clients support and guidance as they work through various issues. My combination of support vs. challenge allows my clients to develop their own strategies to solve future problems.

More Info About My Practice

I do not file insurance, however I am happy to provide a standardized form for clients to complete if they seek out-of-network reimbursement. I can fill out the dates of service and procedure codes required, but it is up to the client to send in the form for reimbursement. Full payment ($115) is due at the time of each session.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

What I love most about being a therapist, is being inspired by my clients. Watching someone come into therapy and invest their time, money, and emotional energy to get their life in better balance is beyond gratifying. I wouldn't do this work if I didn't see change.

I am passionate about psychotherapy because I have personally and professionally seen extraordinary results in clients' quality of life. There are times where we all feel pressure to fix things by ourselves, but then we see the benefits of working with a therapist. My experiences, both as a client and a therapist, have shown me that the growth that comes from hard work and dedication is stimulating. Every evening when I turn off my office lights, I feel lucky to be in a profession I adore.

Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist

Trust is the single most important factor in choosing a therapist. You need to be able to rely on your therapist to maintain confidentiality, to be direct when issues need to be addressed, and supportive when you feel vulnerable. Even if you have personality differences, it is critical that you have respect for the therapist you choose. Otherwise, you will not reach the levels of growth and success you desire.

You must also make sure your therapist is current with the state licensing board and has the expertise in the area you are seeking help. In my opinion, a therapist should be willing to talk to you directly before setting up the initial visit to make sure you feel comfortable going forward. It is a big step to reach out for help, and finding the best match can take some time. Be patient and hold out for someone with whom you feel comfortable.
