My office is conveniently located in Smithtown with flexible scheduling including night and weekend (Saturday & Sunday) hours. Most insurance plans are accepted. If your insurance is not accepted or if you do not have insurance, an affordable, sliding scale fee per session is an option. Cash, check, as well as credit cards are accepted. I help adults and adolescents with a variety of challenges, such as significant life changes, behavioral difficulties, and anxiety. I specialize in working with individuals who have survived trauma, including sexual assault and domestic violence. I also help families and couples tackle issues such as stress and depression, as well as other issues.
How Psychotherapy Can Help
One of my favorite quotes is from Deepak Chopra; one of the most prominent, founding figures in the dialogue of the mind-body connection. Chopra stated, "All great changes are preceded by chaos". Chaos, confusion, disarray, turmoil, discord, unsettled. These words essentially all have the same meaning, and all have been used by individuals describing what they are feeling when I ask the question, "What brings you in?".
Therapy can help you mentally and emotionally "unpack" and make sense of the chaos. Therapy allows for an objective outsider (that's me!) to hear whatever it is that you are struggling with, and to help you work through it; perhaps by offering a different way of looking at the situation, or maybe identifying a not so positive pattern of thinking. A time of chaos is the perfect time to start the therapy process! Think of this time as a new beginning, where you will learn useful tools to cope with the discomfort of the present, gain a fresh insight, and start down the path towards great change.
