More Info About My Practice

Emily Cook Therapy, LLC is a private practice in downtown Bethesda, MD that helps clients repair and enrich their relationships. Our group of diverse therapists offer individual therapy, couples therapy, career coaching, family therapy, and counseling for couples on the brink of divorce. We also provide premarital counseling and wedding officiant services. Sessions are available daytime and evenings Monday through Friday, and Saturday and Sunday during the day.

Therapy fees are based on session length, not number of people in the room, and are payable by cash, check, or major credit card. Insurance is not accepted as a form of payment, however we can help you to submit for out-of-network reimbursement if your insurance policy allows.

My Role as a Therapist

I have handpicked a team of highly qualified and experienced therapists uniquely trained to help clients repair and enrich their relationships. Each therapist in my practice has offers different backgrounds in mental health, but we all share a similar philosophy of therapy.

We view our role as a therapist to be an active collaborator towards positive growth and lasting results. We help clients see the patterns that keep them feeling stuck and together we use new insights and skills to "do" relationships differently. We often use gentle humor to highlight areas for change, metaphors to creatively think about problems in new ways, and books to deepen understanding of the issues facing relationships.

We believe in the power of therapy to create lasting change for patterns and dynamics otherwise difficult to change alone. The relationship built between client and therapist is the most important ingredient for success and we work hard to create an environment that is safe, empathetic, and productive. We will be honest with you and care deeply about your goals.

Had a Negative Therapy Experience?

Are you an individual who has tried therapy before, but still find yourself struggling with finding peace and joy in your life? Are you a couple who has tried couples therapy, only to find yourselves still struggling with the same destructive patterns and unproductive conversations? The therapists in my practice have specialized training to work with interpersonal relationship issues.

We are a team of marriage and family therapists and licensed professional counselors. We view your concerns as a part of a larger system and we know how to work with each person in the room so that you move towards a relationship that is thriving. Resolving the issues that bring you to therapy requires a deep level of understanding, and our clients often tell us our work together is just what they were looking for.
