Always maintaining a profound respect for your journey, I offer over 25 years of experience to support you in making the changes you desire. Taking into account life stages, personal and family history, and your unique personality, I work toward helping you clarify the past, present, and future for yourself. I work with a range of issues, believing that most problems can be traced back to early experiences and underlying beliefs, both conscious and unconscious. My work is strengths based and trauma informed, so the work we do together is determined by your needs. A cornerstone of my work is that I know that you have all the answers you seek within you, but may need confidence and assistance to realize your own gifts. I utilize mindfulness and both eastern and western thought in my work, believing that awareness is the "magic potion" that changes everything!

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I enjoy working with a range of issues, especially self-esteem and empowerment, history of victimization, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, to name a few. My approach to working with children has been very successful, using play therapy, social skills training, behavioral approaches when helpful, and parent-child relation work. In general, my work targets increasing confidence and self-esteem, while clarifying behavior which has contributed to the problem (taking responsibility for one's choices). Many issues are effectively dealt with through this approach.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

It is a wonderful experience to be able to say, "I truly love my work!" And it's the truth--I have been privileged to see countless people over the years grow and change in ways that bring me deep satisfaction and joy to have shared their journey for a time. Therapy can change us in the most elemental way if we learn to be happy "in our own skin" and to find peace and joy in the life we have. Some therapeutic intervention can be merely a "tune-up" while other times, we need to address a longstanding pattern which has been wreaking havoc in our lives. Either way, it can be such a relief to have someone truly understand, accept, and offer alternative ways of seeing the situation.

My Guiding Ethical Principles

As I've stated earlier, I believe in the wholeness of all people. I aim to see my clients holistically, trusting in their inner drive toward peace and fulfillment. Having said that, I recognize that at many times in our lives, we don't feel whole, and sometimes even feel broken. My guiding ethical principle is respect--honoring the journey of every person who walks through my door. I provide acceptance and support while working to help identify my client's blind spots as well as inner resources. We work together as a team to create successful outcomes, as identified by you, the client.
