I have learned that though many of us have similar struggles, what is most important to each individual client is very unique to his/her life experience. Therefore, one of my goals as a therapist is to ensure each client has a safe place to express personal and relationship needs and goals, without judgment. When working with couples this task can become a balancing act, but it is what I enjoy most about my role as therapist. Building empathy, thoughtful communication, care and concern between partners is a critical component my practice for couples. Of equal importance to me is helping individuals to achieve self awareness, self expression and forward progress on personal goals. I welcome individuals, couples and families from all backgrounds with a diversity of strengths, challenges and goals.

Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist

Finding the right therapist is a very personal experience. A good first step is knowing what your goals and needs are which you would like to address in therapy. Then review multiple therapists' profiles; take advantage of complimentary phone consultations as well to get a sense of which therapist feels right for you. Above all else, remember you are the consumer and have the right to be selective when choosing a therapist. When you have found the right therapist s/he will understand you, connect with you and challenge you to extend yourself beyond your comfort zone.

The Duration and Frequency of Therapy

In my practice, the client(s) are the expert, I merely facilitate the growth process. The length of therapy should be individualized, and will vary with needs of the client. Typically individuals can expect to participate in a minimum of 6-8 sessions before feeling any change. Couples and families may require more time investment to realize progress as there are more individuals whose needs and goals should be recognized and validated. Remember, whatever brings you to therapy at this point in your life may have accumulated over years or even decades; it will take time to peel back the layers of the past and reconcile it with the future you deserve.
