I believe that each person is unique and that an effective treatment helps you meet all your needs for power, belonging, survival, independence, and even fun. I enjoy using several different therapies, all of which are evidence-based, so that we can create a treatment that works best for you and is most effective for your individual personality. Throughout my life experiences I have worked with many people, from many different walks of life, and have noticed that despite where we come from, there are common areas that we all need to feel happy and healthy. These needs are universal, though how you achieve these needs is not. How we deal with issues that are hurting you and keeping you from being the best form of you, can vary widely, but rest assured that regardless of the issue, I am here to help.

My Role as a Therapist
In therapy, my job is to "shine a light in the darkness" for you. I cannot make you change. That job is all yours. What I can do, is help you see things more clearly so that change makes more sense.
On the Fence About Going to Therapy?
If you are on fence about therapy, I don't blame you. In our society we hear good things and terrible things about mental health therapy. What people believe a therapist does varies widely depending on who you talk to. If you feel that you are suffering from an issue that you need professional help with, then see a therapist. If you are sick, you see a Medical Doctor. If you cannot see well, you see an Optometrist. For issues with thoughts, relationships, and choices in life, you see a Counselor/Therapist. That is why we exist.
Had a Negative Therapy Experience?
Just like clients, all Therapists are different. Some of us had a different type of education than the Therapists that came before and after us. Some that call themselves "Therapists" or "Counselors" are not qualified to use those terms. I always recommend that you research your Therapist fully and ensure that they are fully licensed and educated to perform the therapy that you are requesting. Despite this safeguarding, you may still end up having a bad experience with a Therapist. Unfortunately, there is no helping that as personalities and beliefs may still interrupt and even damage the relationship that you can have with your Therapist. Please remember that a bad experience with one Therapist does not mean that you will have a bad experience with another. Keep an open mind with your Therapist though, as we all just want to help in the process of healing. Give us a chance to make amends if we hurt your feelings, and you should always feel free to tell us when we have done so.
