The first way to help people in therapy is by developing trust and forming a safe, attuned and connected relationship. This relationship is an integral part of the change process. Having your life-experience validated, and being deeply listened to and understood without being judged creates an atmosphere where healing can start to occur. Connecting this way with my clients is a skill I have developed in over 25 years of extensive experience working effectively with distressed people.

More Info About My Practice

Losing connection with someone you love can be a devastating emotional experience. The need to strongly and positively connect with our loved ones is an innate, human experience. If you want to save your relationship, I am here to help in a safe, compassionate and effective way.

The primary model I use for couple's therapy is Emotionally Focused Therapy(EFT). EFT was created by Dr. Sue Johnson and has been highly researched and findings are create some hope: 75% of distressed couples report a more secure and loving connection at the end of therapy (90% of couples report improvement). Going through the EFT process with a compassionate and effective therapist can bring you new insight and understand about your partner and re-creates the connection you are longing for.

How Psychotherapy Can Help

The relationship you develop with your therapist is critically important. If it is based on safety, trust and a deep connection, this can be the first step in discovering the change that you want in your life. The approaches your therapist uses are also important. EFT is the perspective I use most of the time with couples, as I have noted above. In working with individuals suffering from depression, anxiety, PTSD or other traumas, I have found EMDR Therapy to be, in many cases, life altering. EMDR therapy seems to tap into the brain's natural healing process and helps people effectively reprocess difficult memories and significantly increase their self-esteem, as well. This can be empowering. I am committed to use approaches that help you get the most out of your therapy experience.
