More Info About My Practice
I understand that making the decision to come to therapy may be difficult. When you first show up to the office, I am right there to greet you. I try my very best to keep your first visit friendly and non-confrontational. As you progress through your sessions, we will work on symptoms, thoughts, and behaviors. I believe counseling is like putting a puzzle together. We have to find the right puzzle pieces to fit. Each person is unique and requires just the right method of treatment to help meet goals. I do not believe counseling is a one-size fits all approach. It is my hope that every client is able to work through his or her struggles and meet his or her goals. Please feel free to contact me directly so I can help answer your questions and concerns as well as book an appointment.
Had a Negative Therapy Experience?
Having a negative therapy experience can lead someone to believe that counseling cannot help. I tend to tell my clients that it is all about the fit. Not every therapist is going to fit with what you are looking for. This is why I recommend spending at least 2-3 sessions with a therapist to determine how he or she is working out. I find it is also important to discuss your negative experience with me. It is helpful for me to know what worked and did not work so that we can better meet your goals. I also like to keep open communication. So, if you do not like a specific technique or way of doing things, please feel free to tell me. It helps us stay on task.
Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed
I tend to hear from my clients that going to therapy means you are weak or flawed. That is the exact opposite of the truth. Therapy gives you the opportunity to vent about what is going on in your life. I am looking at the situation from an outside view. I help you think outside the box and come up with solutions that you might not have thought about. When it comes to symptoms such as anxiety or depression, research shows one of the best treatment option is therapy. A good counselor will have techniques and tips for you to try at home. I work to help reduce your symptoms using the most up-to-date therapies. I do understand how coming to therapy can be difficult and stressful. If it helps you, please feel free to bring a friend or family member who can help you get through your first visit.
