Are you having the same fight over and over? I help couples who argue in non-productive or cyclical ways to learn more effective ways to communicate with each other.

Common issues include infidelity, emotional disconnection, and physical intimacy problems. I have particular interest and expertise in helping couples in which one member of the couple suffers disordered eating, addiction, or other behavior problems. Premarital counseling is offered at a discounted rate.

More Info About My Practice

I very much encourage you to reach out with any questions about me or the psychotherapy process in general. I do not charge for phone consultation and f I am not the right provider with you, I can likely provide recommendations. If you are calling about couples therapy you may call together or either member of the couple may reach out.

My Role as a Therapist

My role is to both members of the couple to connect more deeply with each other, ensuring that both members feel heard and validated. I work hard to avoid "taking sides" and I firmly believe that both members of the couple need to learn to do things differently in order to reclaim their love.

My View on the Nature of 'Disorders'

Suffering and pain are a part of the human experience. Sometimes, the form of that suffering falls into a predictable pattern and then we call it a "disorder". While this does help to provide us with a road-map and some idea of what interventions might be helpful, it also has terrible consequences.

People begin to believe that something is wrong with them if they need help to navigate their emotional world, when in reality we are all social creatures that need help from time to time. Just at the moment when people need to be reminded that they are a part of the human community, they are made to feel different and broken.

I am passionate about developing more realistic and helpful ways of understanding the struggles that people go through and the therapeutic process. Please feel free to reach out for more information about alternatives to the current diagnostic system.
