I specialize in group counseling for women. These groups of no more than six women spend 90 minutes together each week. In group it's safe to talk about your depression. Or anxiety. Or your relationship. Or maybe you're trying to figure out whether or not to take that new job, or move to Indiana to be near family. Whatever it is, the same women will show up and support and encourage you and celebrate your progress. Each week I offer tips for coping with moods to kick off the group. I like to help you become aware of how you think, because thinking creates moods. Then the floor is yours to talk about anything you'd like help with. It's a powerful way to heal!

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist
Your healing is my passion! When I read a testimonial from a woman in one of my groups recently that said "Connie is a counselor who really cares", my heart leapt. It's such a privilege to play a part in your healing. Watching you grow from scared to courageous, from confused to clear thinking and decisive, from staying in bed all day with depression to smiling ear to ear as you enthusiastically describe your new life....well, what could be better? I LOVE this work. I can hardly wait to watch you grow!
My View on the Nature of 'Disorders'
Though there are some extreme "mental illnesses", I believe we can all go through times of depression. It may never become extreme, but life can throw some pretty bad stuff at us. Depression is a feeling of helplessness, powerlessness, and loneliness. And anxiety is very common and mostly about overthinking, which can be changed! These are part of being human. You are not "sick"; you just need a little help for a while :-)
