When you are down, you may lose hope. You may be struggling through the day, coping on the outside but in pain inside. I can hold hope for you until you are able to feel optimism again. Life does't have to be such a struggle. I believe that we all have within us the ability to heal. I will help you find that deep knowing. I listen, and work with you. With families, it it important for each member to be heard and seen. I work with the family as a 'system', and also as individual persons who may need to heal. With couples, I do Imago Therapy, which explores where your inner needs and wants in relationship coes from, and gives voice to them. I teach more effective and caring communication skills.
With children, I first listen to the parents to hear your concerns and observations. I then work to establish trust with your child, letting the child take the lead in art, sand and play therapy, noticing silently and out loud. I may be more directive, helping them master tasks and build the self esteem needed. I offer parents education and reading materials.
With adolescents,I respect their need to find their individuality while remaining safe and respectful of the family embracing them.

As an art therapist, I am able to offer appropriate art materials and sand tray experience. Some feelings are more easily expressed in images. So often, when I introduce art therapy into the counseling process, counseling deepens and quickens the course of treatment. Couples and family members can "see" each other through their imagery and respond in new ways.
