For the last 10 years, CK has worked in a vast array of traditional clinical therapeutic settings in San Francisco, New York and Key West. She uses an eclectic approach that utilizes cognitive and CBT based strategies with blended modalities such as expressive arts, nature-based and spiritual practices. Even CKs name is a blend of worlds! Her birth name Christina, and her given name, Kali represent the juncture of traditional psychotherapy with eastern philosophy and the new journey forward!

More Info About My Practice

CK holds Master's Degrees in Counseling, and is committed to providing AFFORDABLE (sliding scale) psychotherapy so that the individual or couple can create lasting change and growth.

She has worked with a variety of conditions over the past 10 years stemming from life transitions and mood disorders, to severe psychosis and sexual trauma. She has been a lifelong advocate for, and practitioner of, therapeutic modalities tailored to the needs of the Queer community and their loved ones. Presently, CK is finishing her PhD in East-West Psychology at the California Institute for Integral Studies. She loves to delve into the interface of psychology and philosophy, of Western Medicine and Alternative Health modalities.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

Like most therapists, CK was trained extensively in CBT and cognitive based therapeutic modalities. It was her interest in existential theory, Logotherapy, and yoga and creative therapies that prompted her to move on the doctoral level. In the course of her work she's evolved specialties in queer intimacy and couples counseling overall. She has also carved a niche working with adolescent females. Visual aesthetics can convey a great deal about an individual's essence, and most people find that the fact that she's open about herself is an open invitation to exploration

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

It is CK's passion to watch the moment that a thought or a somatic sensation makes a connection! She loves to be present to ans in assistance of the moment a couple lingers over a statement, and in the realization of that statement their relationship will be improved. She believes it is holding the space for the beauty of humanity to unfold and assisting its people to live with greater quality.

My Role as a Therapist

CK sees the role of the therapist as a role of co-facilitator of change. It is the client that knows the intricacies of themselves. CK's role is to mirror back to them what they are expressing a need for-either consciously or not
