I am passionate about helping individuals and couples achieve greater peace and satisfaction in their lives and in their relationships. I believe that everyone has times in their life when they need help navigating transitions and challenges. I use an integrative and individualized approach to psychotherapy to help individuals and couples work through unresolved problems and emotional pain. My belief is that good therapy offers a space to reflect, gather insight, learn skills to cope with strong emotions, and feel inspired, valued, and heard.

COUPLES COUNSELING: Are you tired of feeling alone and disconnected from your partner? Or, do you and your partner have the same argument over and over without resolution? I work with couples to transform their destructive relational patterns into effective and fulfilling ways of communicating and relating. I integrate techniques from several therapy methods to help couples increase positive emotions between them, identify ways they can each feel supported and nurtured in their relationship, and use practical communication strategies with one another.

TEENS & COLLEGE STUDENTS: I have worked in several college counseling centers and with many high school students in my private practice. What many people do not know, is that research shows that 80% of life's defining moments take place by age 35. That means that our teens and twenties are critical periods in our lives. I help teens and twentysomethings be intentional about their relationships, self-esteem, identity development, and coping skills.

EATING DISORDERS/BODY IMAGE ISSUES: Do you spend too much time obsessing about food, exercising, comparing your body to others, or just feeling uncomfortable in your body? Well, you are not alone and, the good news, is that there is hope! I help people recover from eating disorders and feel better about their bodies. These issues are rarely just about food and they are often rooted in feelings about yourself or your relationships with others. My approach includes helping you understand the underlying issues beyond food, transforming the roadblocks that have kept you from making positive changes, and teaching skills to manage difficult emotions. Your body does not have to be a source of shame and eating can once again feel safe and worry-free!

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

I genuinely love my job as a psychologist. My goal is to help clients feel a little less lonely, sad, scared, ashamed, etc and to help them make positive changes in their lives. Everyone deserves the opportunity to feel listened to, respected, and understood. I continue to feel both humbled and honored to have the opportunity to know my clients on a deeper, more personal level and to witness great changes.

On the Fence About Going to Therapy?

Starting therapy can sometimes feel overwhelming or intimidating, so congratulations for taking steps to find a therapist! Finding the right therapist is critical for a successful outcome. At the end of your first session with me, I allow time for a brief discussion about how the session felt and whether you can see yourself moving forward. Typically, by the end of the first session, you will have a sense of whether or not we're a good fit. If, for whatever reason, you are unsure or know that it's not a good fit, I will be more than happy to provide referrals with colleagues who better match your needs.
