Taking the first step toward asking for help is difficult and often scary. I know what it feels like to take that first step to find a therapist. It is an incredibly vulnerable place to find yourself and often it does not feel good. You might wonder, "Will it always feel like this?" Yes and no. But the upside to that answer is that discomfort can help you find some change and transformation in your life. My goal is to walk alongside you in the process of discovering who you are, what you want for your life, and how we can help move you toward creating the life you desire. It is a great priviledge to be a witness in this process with you and I hope that you will consider me as your therapist as you learn more about my values, passions, and hopes for those with whom I work.
I have several areas in which I enjoy working with people: I enjoy working with people who want to explore what a healthier relationship with food might look like and who want to find some peace in relationship to thier bodies. I work with people who are having difficulty understanding emotional moodswings, sadness, thoughts about not wanting to go on with life, grief, anxiety, who are struggling with managing life changes or transitions, or with those who want to explore how their life path has given rise to questions of purpose, spirituality, and meaning.

More Info About My Practice

My practice is located in Greenwood Village just off of I-25 and Belleview. I am happy to take out of network insurance, but you will need to check with your particular provider as to whether they will allow for this option. I can also work on a sliding scale if insurance is not an option and you cannot afford my full fee, which is $110/hour (my full fee schedule will be discussed via phone in your free initial consultation and will be described in detail in paperwork presented at your first session).

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy

I believe there is a two-fold purpose for psychotherapy. There is a strong desire in all of us to be "seen" and understood. My own experience in therapy was most profound when I felt like my therapist "got me." I spent what felt like a lifetime seeking a place to be myself without all the conditions that seemed to be extended to me by my family and by society. It was a great relief to have someone available to me who expressed concern and curiosity about me with no judgements and free of any expectations about who they thought I should be. The second purpose, and most important, is my desire to help you find connection and meaning in your life. This includes exploring your values and connecting with actions that support your values. This can be a painful process. However, I have found, as both a therapist and the one seeking therapy, that this has been a deeply rewarding process for me and I hope it will be for you as well.

My Role as a Therapist

The major impetus for change is, I believe, taking some emotional risks. However, when we have been hurt in the past, these risks feel very daunting and scary. It is helpful to have someone nudge you and challenge you to take some risks when appropriate and safe. This kind of trust can take time, but when you decide the time is right, we will face these changes together and I will support your willingness to take those risks and from personal experience, can understand the fears and insecurities that often arise when changes begin. There is some excitement that can come from these changes. It is a small expectation that perhaps life can be different, more fulfilling; or maybe I can now feel more alive and more connected to myself and in my relationships in the process? My hope is that our work together will offer you new ways to access connection, peace, purpose, and well, happiness, of course!
