Do you find yourself getting in your own way? Do you feel unfulfilled even though your life looks good "on paper"? I believe we are complex beings, with layers of emotion and habit we are often unaware of. I practice therapy from a modern psychoanalytic perspective, with an active, engaging approach. I believe deep exploration in a safe environment is the key to finding clarity and satisfaction in life.

On the Fence About Going to Therapy?

Stigma is alive and well in the modern day. Don't let it win. A sense of shame or, "something is wrong with me" can be so overwhelming that it can get in the way of asking for help when it's most needed. I strive to provide an open-minded, non-judgmental space where whatever needs to be talked about can be talked about, even - especially - things it's been impossible to talk about before now.

The Duration and Frequency of Therapy

Who can blame us for wanting suffering to go away quickly and easily. And if you see me and we find resolution to your problems in short order, we'll both be pleased. But I find some of my most satisfying work is with people whose suffering is not new, not simple, and does not resolve quickly or easily. Maybe you've tried therapy before, maybe several times. Maybe what you struggle with has not yielded to short-term or weekly frequency. A modern psychoanalytic approach respects the power of the mind to produce great things but also to produce deep, profoundly resistant inner trouble. A deep investment of time and resources is often, in my experience, what finally brings relief.
