More Info About My Practice

I addition to face to face counseling, I offer online and distance counseling through video or telephone to clients in the state of North Carolina. You choose which way you would like to receive help.
For Video we can see each other through a secure video platform through your computer or table. This can be very effective for some people. Telephone counseling is also available if you prefer to just talk about issues and you are comfortable sharing personal information without visually seeing your Counselor.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

Ever since I was a teenager I was fascinated by friends and professionals who seemed to have the knack for knowing the right things to say to those in need. I felt like I didn't have the ability and never knew what to say to help someone in emotional distress As I got older, I realized the most important part of helping others is being a good listener and really being with them when they are in distress. I thought I could do that! As I began to explore Psychology, I realized I had the ambition and skills to be really effective in this field. To me, I love seeing that I made a difference in someone else's life. It brings me joy to see client's grow and learn how to cope better with life's difficulties. I love building relationships with clients and helping them to believe in themselves. To know that I can help instill hope in clients who have lost their way, is my true inspiration and passion It keeps me going and pursuing more education and training to be the best Therapist I can be.

Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed

I believe it takes strength and courage to admit you have an issue you need help with. Many people try to solve any issues by themselves. For some issues we just need the helpful guidance from a trained counselor to give us a different perspective. Counseling also gives us time to get issues off our chest which can be therapeutic in itself. I think countering this stigma starts with educating the public on the benefits of therapy. I have seen so many clients turn their lives around because they were brave enough to face their challenges and do what was necessary to improve their lives. Everyone needs help at some point. Receiving that help from a neutral person like a Counselor can make all the difference.
