My Approach to Helping

Philadelphia Institute for Individual Relational & Sex Therapy is a practice of highly trained and specialized therapists dedicated to helping people gain greater insight and create greater joy in their lives. We provide services for individuals, families and all types of relationships.

Our unique group practice brings together the skills of a variety of specialty trained therapists who function independently but are benefited by the strength of a group skill set. The psychotherapists at PhIIRST are a diverse group of both male and female psychotherapists specializing in individual, relational and sex therapy.

We know that life's challenges can often be complex and profoundly emotional. The therapists at PhIIRST offer a wide range of counseling and therapy services as well as educational workshop and groups.

How Psychotherapy Can Help

My experience shows that psychotherapy is most beneficial when I am able to work closely with the people in my care. In our initial sessions together we will establish your therapeutic goals, which in turn will help us develop a treatment plan that may assist you in reaching these goals. As we go through the treatment process, we will make any needed adjustments to your therapeutic plans, goals or methodology. It is also important for us to agree that I may exercise the right to refer you to a more suitable medical or mental health professional if I believe there is a need for therapeutic interventions that I cannot provide.

I provide sensitive, compassionate, and empathic counseling that is specific to your unique circumstances. As we work together it is recommended that you to arrive for each session on time, complete any tasks we agree upon, and speak about any negative thoughts, feelings, or behaviors you may be experiencing. I strongly encourage you to speak about any concerns you may have about the treatment process so that these may be quickly and adequately addressed.

You will be asked to complete therapeutic tasks both during and outside of our schedules sessions. You will likely find our sessions to be a safe place where you may share your thoughts and emotions, act out any repressed behaviors, and plan for a brighter future. As treatment progresses you may find that therapy provides you with rapid relief, or that a more patient approach is needed to reap meaningful results.
