I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I have been working with families in the community for over 10 years. I have advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), which research has identified as the most effective approach to success within couple's therapy. I offer family therapy, which may include families of two or more people, up to and including the participation of extended family and friends if necessary. I provide couple's therapy for all varieties of couples at any stage in their relationship. It may be that you are seeking pre-marital counseling prior to your marriage, maybe you are a new couple who just had a baby and are working through life's transitions, or maybe you have noticed ongoing distress over the years and you are ready to make some changes. This approach is equally successful in all aspects of relationships and is highly successful in building lasting connections. I am trained in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. This modality is designed to address trauma. Trauma can be any situation in your life which you felt was abnormally disturbing, stressful, or painful. I work with individuals to reprocess their memories and the negative emotions associated with that event, allowing them to once again regain control over their own life.

I am an approved Clinical Supervisor, offer clinical supervision, and am also currently pursuing my status as an AAMFT Approved Supervisor.

My Role as a Therapist

My role as a therapist is to provide a safe atmosphere for you to share and work towards change. I am there to work with you and to facilitate new positive experiences. When working with couples I am there to open up communication by creating safety in sharing as well as increasing opportunities for closeness and bonding within the relationship.

Had a Negative Therapy Experience?

If you have had a negative therapy experience in the past do not let it derail you from seeking help. All therapists are different. Finding a therapist that you feel comfortable with, who fits your style, understands your situation, and who provides an atmosphere where you feel safe is the best predictor of success. Research shows that the main predictor of successful therapy is based on the professional relationship you are able to build with your therapist. For this reason I do my best to offer a safe, non judgmental space for my clients to share and grow.
