It takes courage to seek help and I understand how difficult it can be to begin therapy. If you are ready, I will provide a trusting safe place for you to be heard and respected. There is, in all of us, an essential urge to grow and be whole, but sometimes it takes support and help to reach our potential. Together we can work to improve decision making and problem solving in order for you to make your relationships, your work, and your feelings about yourself more enjoyable and satisfying. Clients tell me that their mood is better, worries decrease, self esteem is higher, and relationships are more pleasurable as they feel more confident about sustaining their progress independently.

For over 17 years I have helped clients with depression, bipolar, anxiety, grief and loss, ADHD, academic and professional under-functioning, family disruption, parenting challenges, and life stage transitions. Behavioral strategies and skills are used to improve time management, organization, and overcome procrastination, skills that clients take forward with them after therapy. Complementary therapy approaches are combined to fit each individual client.

I have a highly interactive approach while working with clients in a genuine and compassionate partnership. Take the first step toward your goals and make an appointment to begin. I provide a free initial phone consult to help clients decide if this might be a good fit and to discuss what brings them to therapy.

How Psychotherapy Can Help

Therapists can be helpful in providing a fresh perspective on a difficult situation, or guide you in the direction of a solution. Some of the benefits of therapy may include: better self-understanding, developing more effective skills for improving relationships, learning better ways to cope with worries, frustrations, and stress. It can improve managing of emotional pressure, grief, anger and depression. Communication skills may be improved while changing old negative behavior and thinking patterns and developing new ones. Being more mindful and present in your daily life increases while learning better ways to solve problems in your family. These inevitably increase self-esteem and self confidence and bring more joy into your life.

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy

Seeking therapy is courageous. You may have successfully managed many challenges so far, and wonder if you really need therapy. It can provide some much appreciated encouragement and skills to get through a particularly difficult circumstance or major life transition. It is admirable when a person has enough self awareness to realize they need extra support and help. You are accepting responsibility for yourself and where you are at in life by making a commitment to change your situation. You may be at the point where you want to learn more about yourself and want to be more effective with your goals. Therapy has long lasting benefits, giving you the skills and tools to avoid old damaging patterns as you overcome the challenges you face. The ultimate point of therapy is to help you take what you learn in session back into your daily life. People seeking therapy are supported as they make positive changes, develop new perspectives, and accept responsibility for their lives.
