Almost 30 years ago, I began my own journey of emotional and spiritual healing when I experienced severe depression. The healing I began to live out of led me to answer God's calling in my life to become a professional Christian counselor, serving adult women who are ready to heal, change and grow.
I work only with adult women, most of whom have been abused physically, sexually, verbally, emotionally, mentally, spiritually, and psychologically, As a result of this abuse, they struggle with depression, anxiety, post traumatic stress, constant fear and usually have many questions about God. They don't know who they are, Whose they are, what they feel or need because they have not been safe to discover who they are and to live out of their God-given worth.
So what I offer women possibly like you is a safe place to be...a safe place to feel...a safe place to cry...a safe place to ask your questions and to teach you how to build a safe community to help you heal, grow, and change.

I also facilitate Intimate Workshops for Women at my office or in various community settings such as churches and retreat centers and Domestic Violence Training for Churches and Private Practitioners. Please visit my website for more details.

Had a Negative Therapy Experience?

So did I almost 30 years ago and I still experienced healing and growth. But because of some of my unfortunate experiences in therapy, I vowed to be the most ethical, 'boundaried', 'best practices' therapist in Charlotte, NC! I've seen many women over the years who actually had traumatic experiences with therapists who were more interested in getting their own needs met than serving those coming to them for help. So I do understand when you are hesitant about connecting with another therapist who may cause you harm instead of being safe for you.

To make sure that you are my priority, I see my own therapist monthly and I participate in a Peer Consultation Group each month and have been for the past 15 years. This self care and accountability helps me create safety for you.

How My Own Struggles Made Me a Better Therapist

I still remember how difficult it was for me to pick up the phone and make the first appointment. It was even harder to show up. But eventually the pain of staying stuck in my depression and in my dysfunctional relationship choices became more intense than the pain of changing. I was in therapy three to four years working through my family-of-origin issues so I could learn how to break the patterns I was living in. I have no regrets for doing my own therapeutic work.
My hope for you is that if you choose to work with me, you will experience the benefits of my having starting my therapeutic work 30 years ago and continuing to work through my struggles as I help you with your concerns.
