My Approach to Helping

How does loving my work help you as a client? It makes me better able and interested in serving your needs. I help clients co-create and understand their world, I listen and ask questions, and use what ever fits. I am a dually licensed counselor and a marriage and family therapists, so I see people individually or as a couple.

I hope to create safety and comfort for you to share and listen to what it is that brings you to counseling. I bring the latest research and training, along with middle aged maturity that comes from living a dynamic life with a splash of humor and humanity when needed. Each person and couple is unique. Is this a difficult decision to make? Are you unknowingly repeating patterns or behaviors that no longer serve you? From time to time our mind and body lets us know through discomforts that we experience either in our selves or in relationships, that change is needed.

Would learning new skills, growing, and changing to constantly adapt, both within ourselves and in our relationships be helpful? A committed couples relationship, is a work in progress that two people can decide to create. Statistically people go to see an attorney years before they will decide to go see a licensed marital therapists.

Is your relationships plagued by fears of abandonment, suffocation, self doubt, insecurities, or trust violations? Childhood wounds often manifest in the present without us sometimes noticing. Often times there are patterns or attachment styles that get repeated that create negative interactions between a couple that must be explored and adjusted, and the sooner the better. Raising ones awareness to becoming more mindful of the situation is a good first start. Clients sometimes walk in the door feeling a bit different than when they leave.

I feel my clients will bring the motivation, willingness, necessary to co-create the change in their lives that will challenge, nurture, and balance them in their new future. I use tailored techniques and evidence based approaches, and may also integrate EMDR if its helpful. I have flexible hours in Fayetteville, Bella Vista. and Ft. Smith, and work most week ends.

Let me have the honor of serving your needs.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

Single handily this is the most exciting time to be in the counseling field for me because of all the new developments as to how we see the connections between all the systems in and out of our body and in the larger society as whole. I am interested in my client's view of their world. I bring a beginners mind, with a life time of experience and newest training methods. So much has changed as to how we think about therapy, personal growth is now within everyone's reach. I have learned the power of both right and left brain, thinking, intuition, and feelings. Let me help you find what gives you better over all life satisfaction and piece of mind.

On the Fence About Going to Therapy?

You are in good company. I see many first timers in fact, most are first timers. Clients arrive often anxious, nervous and fearful of being judged. They leave hopefully with more information and insight as well as a sense of feeling heard as to their problems. Your only commitment is to the first session and then clients decide where to go from there.
