My approach to helping others is eclectic, letting each person direct me towards what works best for them. I treat each person individually and we work together to create the therapeutic process to guide towards each person's therapeutic goals. My passion of helping drives me in assisting others to find change and create personal growth. I chose to be a counselor because I am rewarded by the positive change that I help make on each life through counseling.

More Info About My Practice

I currently do not take insurance, but will in the near future. I accept all major credit cards, personal checks, or cash. I charge $120 per hour.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

Through the many changes that have occurred in my life, I have gained experience in many different settings: child protective services, the juvenile justice system, intensive outpatient, partial hospitalization, family therapy, group therapy, individual therapy, military, and crisis interventions. I specialize in depression, anxiety, trauma, and substance abuse.

My View on the Nature of 'Disorders'

I believe in treating a person as a whole. I do not believe that a person is a disorder, but rather experiences symptoms of disorders that need to be addressed. Diagnosing someone with a disorder can be harmful to a person's present and future, with the person creating additional symptoms to "live up to" the diagnosis. If we treat the symptoms and not the diagnosis, we can keep a positive outlook on not having a life long diagnosis. There are times that having a diagnosis is necessary, mostly when using insurance for therapy and needing medication.
