Through the course of our work together you will learn to move beyond troubling symptoms to a deeper understanding of the causes of your suffering and distress. This understanding is the essential ingredient to any meaningful and lasting change. My approach to therapy is built upon the growth and development of a collaborative relationship, through which you become aware of the formative aspects of your life not simply intellectually, but emotionally. It is by learning to honor your feelings, understanding your feelings, and how these feelings came about, that you can develop a greater appreciation and understanding of yourself.

My Role as a Therapist

Fundamentally, people progress in life, in relationship, and in work when they have the opportunity to talk with freedom and candor. I de-emphasize the discourse of pathology, diagnosis and labeling. The quality of the relationship between therapist and client is the critical and essential factor in my approach. Successful therapy is built upon a collaborative client-therapist partnership, in the course of which you become aware of the formative events of your life not simply intellectually, but emotionally by re-experiencing and exploring them in relationship.

Theoretical Influences that Guide My Work

Modern Analysis is the treatment of choice for people who really want to get at the root of their problems and make sense of their whole life story. It honors the fact that people have the capacity to discover their own answers when given the opportunity to talk openly.

Modern Analysis also can help people who suffer emotional pain, including those who feel weakened and derailed in their personal development, hurt or disappointed in their intimate relationships, or held back in their pursuit of creative and successful work. (NAAP) Analysis is often helpful when less intensive treatments have not been adequate.

Because analysis is more ambitious in its goals, it requires a higher level of personal commitment. Through the course of analytic work, people gain a different perspective on their distress and begin to truly understand and appreciate all that has gone into the making of themselves.
