Choosing to begin counseling might seem intimidating, but is a very brave and self-compassionate thing to do. As I work with clients my hope is to create a safe and judgement-free environment where individuals feel welcomed and comfortable to share anything and everything that is on their minds. I like to think of counseling as a "place to land" each week, a space where you are able to breathe deeply and feel fully yourself.
In counseling my style is highly interactive. As we meet together, we will work collaboratively to process and seek understanding of whatever might be troubling you. We will practice compassion and kindness for yourself, and work to manage any symptoms or feelings that might seem unbearable.
I believe that counseling is a relational process, and I would be honored to meet you and accompany you on this journey.

My Therapy Focus
Often times when something is troubling us, we feel desperate to feel better. In therapy I like to work with my client's to brainstorm tools and techniques that might help to relieve uncomfortable or unbearable symptoms and feelings, but I also like to explore the "why". Why do we feel anxious or worried or sad? Where do these feelings come from?
I often find that the "why" of our feelings is deeply connected to an individual's personal story or narrative. In counseling we will spend time focusing on your individual story. We will spend time being curious, and asking questions together: Who is the writer of your story? Are there parts you would like to rewrite, or perhaps parts that we could highlight together?
As we work to alleviate unbearable symptoms while exploring your personal story, it is my hope that you will begin to feel grounded and at home in yourself.
Importance of the Client-Therapist Alliance
As you read my profile, you might notice that I speak a great deal about "working together". I believe that in therapy the number one most important agent of change is the relationship between a client and counselor. Client's are always the experts on their own lives, and as a therapist I get to listen and join as individuals work to seek understanding and transformation. In therapy we will work collaboratively to build and nurture our relationship with one another.
