My Approach to Helping

Many people, particularly those in the second half of life, need help dealing with mental health concerns such as depression, grief, anxiety, relationship challenges, and mood disorders. I help people just like you and your family. I also work with adults facing complex and severe mental health challenges, including those facing challenges with personality disorders, chemical dependency, loss, or severe trauma.

I'm a practical therapist who believes that my primary role is to respect my clients' integrity. You're a unique person with your own learning style and background. I utilize cognitive-rational and depth psychology approaches in both brief and long-term intensive therapy formats. I help my clients achieve relevant, realistic, and meaningful goals by helping you integrate mind, body, and spirit. I operate from a client-choice and client-centered perspective.

More Info About My Practice

I assist my clients in a psychoeducational setting. Where appropriate, we may utilize dream analysis, extended sessions, and journaling. I use the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator to help you understand your personality style so you can understand yourself and your relationships. I offer chemical dependency screenings as needed.

My fee is $120 for a 50-60-minute session. I accept some insurance and have a special Seniors 65+ rate--you pay your age.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

Two areas in which I believe I may be particularly adept are: Women's Issues and Second Half of Life/Aging issues. My long experience working with women has resulted in a process that has been very helpful to hundreds of women. Many of us learn that we are called to change in the Second Half of Life; it's an opportunity for self awareness and personal growth. A time to know ourselves better. As we grow older, we can make greater use of our inner resources and transform this new stage of life.

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy can have a major healing influence on your body, mind, and spirit. It can help you wherever you are, suffering from your body's chemical imbalances or your mind's flawed thinking that have affected your emotional well-being and the ways you behave. It can help your spirit to see clearly and deeply. Psychotherapy takes many forms and many paths to achieve its purposes: to help you become all you can be, to help you reach new levels of integrated health, meaning and purpose. Your life becomes better.
