Ever since reading psychoanalysis and serving as a counselor as a college student, I have focused on the art of psychotherapy. Authentic help is based on creative growth for both persons who have agreed on the unique journey of psychotherapy and psychoanalysis. All lives are filled with a mix of joys and sorrows, hopes, dreams, and disappointments, sometimes terrifying trauma--all of which can come into our work. The relationship which I work to grow in our sessions should end in your finding out more of your true self, and find the life you need and want.

More Info About My Practice

The only insurance network which I am on is TriCare, as a certified non-network provider. My standard fee is $200. I provide some fee adjustment for psychoanalysis.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

My background includes service as a military psychiatrist in Viet Nam, and many years as the national director of our country's community based counseling centers for war veterans. I then had several activities in the trauma field, including helping to start the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies, service on two Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM) PTSD Committees for the American Psychiatric Association. As a result, I became a nationally recognized expert on trauma and PTSD, working with people who have experienced war, disasters, family abuse, rape trauma, torture. Beyond trauma, however, I have training in psychoanalysis and therefore provide help for a very wide range of difficulties, as listed else where in my profile.

How Psychotherapy Can Help

Psychodynamic or psychoanalytic therapy help people find their energy and potential for emotional growth which have been blocked by events that happened or confusions which grew up in their childhood and adolescence, or any of the psychological blind alleys which one can go down as an adult. The method is that we freely explore any and all issues that need exploration, including but not limited to what happens now from day to day, what happened in the past, and the ways in which we re-construct and bring to life in our sessions the most important conflicts and growth needs which you have.
