Therapy is a process of growth and discovery and, as your therapist, I will be an active participant in this process. While we cannot change difficult situations in the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life. We will address your concerns and identify the factors that are contributing to your current distress. Working together, we will uncover the behaviors patterns and beliefs that are preventing you from achieving your goals.

My style is engaged and interactive--I will ask questions, give feedback, and encourage you to think about the choices you make and the results of those choices. You will develop tools and strategies to help you manage stressful situations and feelings and to move forward in your life.

If you are looking for support or guidance in handling a challenging situation or want to move in a new direction in your life, I invite you to come in for a consultation. I look forward to meeting with you to talk about how I can help you realize your goals.

IF YOU ARE E-MAILING ME, PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR PHONE NUMBER SO I CAN BE SURE TO GET BACK T0 YOU.

More Info About My Practice

In a comfortable, supportive atmosphere, I offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each of my client's individual needs. We will work together to identify your goals and discover the obstacles that are preventing you from achieving them. We will explore the meanings you attach to your thoughts, feelings, and experiences and help you learn adaptive ways of dealing with the challenges in your life.

As an out-of-network provider for most insurance companies, I will work with you to determine the extent of your coverage and to provide documentation of treatment sessions to your insurer. If finances are preventing you from getting the help you need, we can negotiate an affordable fee based on your situation.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

Having worked for over 30 years in both private practice and school and agency settings, I have experience with a wide diversity of people and a broad range of psychological and behavioral problems. I offer both individual and couples therapy, as well as child play therapy and parent-child treatment.

I am skilled at helping young children and their families negotiate developmental and situational challenges and in working with older adults who are struggling with issues of transition and change. I am particularly attuned to issues of loss and have been able to help people deal with feelings of grief and mourning that may occur in one's life. These feeling are particularly pronounced during periods of transition--be it in a relationship, a work situation, or a stage of life.

Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist

A positive relationship between you and your therapist is the key to successful treatment. It is important that you feel understood and heard by your therapist. Finding the right match--someone who can attune and resonate with you--is extremely important. A consultation can help you determine whether you and the therapist are a 'good fit'. When meeting with a therapist, pay attention to your 'gut' feelings and reactions and consider these questions:
Do you feel understood and validated by the therapist?
How anxious/comfortable do you feel talking to the therapist?
Do you feel the therapist listens empathically?
Does the therapist ask relevant questions?
Does the therapist provide feedback and suggest a tentative plan for addressing the issues and concerns you have talked about?
Does what the therapist says make sense to you?
