Have you ever felt overwhelmed by changes and transitions in your life? Ever found that even an exciting, wished-for change brings with it unexpected emotions, challenges, and difficulties? Sometimes the most thrilling, most highly anticipated moments in our lives can surprise us with what they bring with them. A longed-for pregnancy after years of infertility may bring anxiety, postpartum depression, and isolation. An approaching graduation or career change may trigger fear of the future, loss of self-confidence, and feelings of paralysis. Sometimes these complicated feelings are expected, and other times they may be quite shocking. If this sounds familiar, know that you are not alone.

I specialize in helping clients explore feelings associated with changes in life and close relationships, as well as empowering them to make the best choices for their lives. Making the decision to seek help for personal problems can be a difficult and frightening choice, and I recognize the courage it takes to do so. I respect my clients' right to choose the best path for their lives, and view my role as being a supportive partner in your personal journey. I take great joy in helping my clients change their lives for the better, and consider it an honor to join you in your work.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I am passionate about empowering adults to make positive changes in their lives and relationships as they come to a deeper understanding of who they are as individuals. For some, this means creating and maintaining healthy boundaries in their relationship with an exhausting, controlling, or overwhelming parent. For others, it may mean finding a balance between an identity they were raised with and how they view themselves outside of their family of origin. I am compassionate and sensitive to cultural and relational concerns as my clients work through questions about how they self-identify, and what values and beliefs they find meaningful at this time in their lives.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

One of my favorite moments in therapy is what I call the "aha moment" or "lightbulb moment"--that instant when a connection is made and something clicks into place. The moment when things that didn't seem to go together suddenly make sense, and the picture becomes clearer. These moments can appear small and subtle, but can have a huge impact on how we see the world. I feel honored to be a part of those breakthroughs, and to be a witness to my these powerful and striking moments in my clients' lives.
