I am a solution-focused therapist. I have been practicing therapy for over 10 years. When someone walks into my office they are the expert on their life and I am walking beside them on their journey of self discovery. I bring my education and tools to assist them with discovering ways to conquer the issues at hand and return to their previous level of functioning. Personal growth is also a large component of my practice. It is my bias that all people can benefit from therapy. Not just people with "problems". We can together discover ways to improve your life and help you achieve your goals and vision for the future.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

I love people first and foremost. I have been a "helper" since I was a little girl. I knew that I wanted to be a counselor since I was about 9 years old. I feel honored to be able to assist and walk with people on their journey of self discovery! Together I feel we can meet any goals you have if it is the right fit between you and I. I believe that the most important aspect of therapy is the relationship. I tell people right away that if I don't feel like the right fit for you that I will help you find the right therapist. Research suggests that it is the relationship is the area where the greatest change takes place in therapy. So that is a critical point for anyone who walks through my door.

My View on the Nature of 'Disorders'

I believe that you have all the answers within you. Disorders indicate that something is internally "broken" and I believe you are whole and complete as you are, just occasionally needing help finding the answers within. My perspective is that the only need for "disorder language" is so that the professional can speak to the insurance company and bill for your treatment. NO one is broken! You are sometimes dealing with either a biological or environmental stressor that needs attention. Together we can come up with the plan of action and find ways to deal with the issues that bring you to see me.
