My intention is to help you identify and gain clarity about the issues that are bothering you, and to help guide you to embrace and accept the unwanted depression or anxiety (for example) that is hindering your life. You see, by accepting your unwanted issues, it will allow you to take responsibility for yourself, and once you truly acknowledge these dark traits instead of avoiding them, suddenly, they will stop having control over you.

My passion is to help you unhinge the continuation of your past and help you understand how problems are being created in your life and how you can find lasting change.

Let's face it though, it can feel hard to turn and ask for help. Too often, we try to control our outer circumstances to change our life, however, change really begins within. This is because your outer life is a reflection of your inner world. If you feel disconnected from others, more than likely, you are disconnected from yourself. Therapy is a process of learning about yourself, letting go of things that no longer serve you, and finding ways to replace the old patterns of the past and present. It can be hard to imagine what the outcome of change might be like, but if you don't take a chance or a risk to change, your life might stay the same.

Our work together is about seeing, understanding, and accepting parts of yourself that you may have rejected or have found unacceptable, and then, how you can begin to become a more well rounded person, by being okay with all of you! You might find that you are a very lovable human being, and you deserve to live in acceptance of all that you are!

It's important for you to know, that I understand what it's like to be on the client side of the room. I've been through years of my own therapy and have undergone my own personal growth, so that I can be clear minded and ready to help you! There are times you may feel vulnerable, and that's a normal feeling. Your courage is your greatest strength in self discovery.

Had a Negative Therapy Experience?

Having a negative experience in therapy can actually be very helpful in finding your next therapist, if you are willing to give it a second chance. When you are looking for a therapist, it will be helpful to tell them about your experience in the past, and why it didn't work for you. If you have feelings of uncertainty about how the process could be different, talk about it with your potential counselor. Tell them your hesitations and be aware of how you feel when they answer you. Trust how you feel about them, because you may find that you gut has the right answer.

Importance of the Client-Therapist Alliance

Would you agree that the relationship you have with your therapist is a big part of moving forward in your therapy and making progress? Having a strong therapeutic connection with your therapist is one of the most important things. And this can take time. After all, it can feel a little funny talking to a stranger about private things. If you don't feel comfortable, or you feel "off" with the therapist, more than likely, you won't feel safe enough to open up.

Being open takes trust, and building a trusting relationship can take time, as well as making sure you feel validated. Therefore, I like to follow your lead. You set the pace of your own therapy, and I will do my best to check in with you and establish good communication on my end - checking in with you about how you see the way things are going. I want to make sure we are aligning with your goals and that you are getting what you need most from me.
