You may feel like life is more than you can handle, but I believe that each of us already has the strength we need to thrive. When you work with me, you will learn about yourself through mindfulness, movement, and adventure in the great outdoors. I believe that nature and relationship are healing, and so we will explore rocks and creeks while you gain the tools and understanding you need to make your life your own. I combine traditional therapeutic methods (such as talking) with current neurobiology research to create personalized treatment plans that facilitate mental, physical and emotional health. I am a certified adventure therapist, DBT facilitator, Transactional Analysis practitioner, climbing and wilderness guide.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

My specialty is trauma treatment through movement and mindfulness. Trauma is any experience that overwhelms the brain and body's ability to cope. This can lead to depression, anxiety, substance abuse, relational problems or even eating disorders. While trauma seems to be very specific, it encompasses a variety of emotional issues that affect how well you can live your life. I am able to help with a broad spectrum of disorders, in a holistic way that combines care for both the mind and the body.

Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed

We don't hesitate to take an asprin when we have a headache, or go to the hospital after a fall, so why do we hesitate to see a counselor when our hearts are heavy and our lives are overwhelming? Imagine taking a pill for a headache after years of just living with it. Your life would change! Therapy is the same, though not as fast acting. Your internal life doesn't need to be a struggle, so why not do something to make yourself feel better!
