I offer a holistic, mindfulness-based approach to cognitive therapy. I work with individuals and couples, and my work is inspired by humanistic, psychodynamic, somatic, relational and attachment theories. I adopt an integrative approach, customizing my treatment to meet your values and needs. We can collaborate to help you more deeply understand yourself, the way you response to the world, how you manage stress and challenges, and how you navigate relationships.

You'll have the chance to explore long-standing patterns of relating that may impede your journey to connection, joy, and deeper satisfaction. I specialize in helping clients deal with anxiety and depression, and enjoy working with clients who are working toward a deeper acceptance and understanding of themselves.

I offer my clients a safe space for honest, direct, and down-to-earth communication. We'll make sense of relationship patterns that affect your life, then work to help you nourish the neglected parts of yourself. We'll cultivate a quiet place that offers you the renewed connection and clarity you need to feel more comfortable in your own skin.

More Info About My Practice

I'm happy to offer you a telephone consultation before we get started. It's important to find the right therapist, so I'm happy to answer your questions about therapy and how I help clients. I'm not on any insurance panels, but can offer you a monthly statement to submit to your insurer for out-of-network reimbursement. Please ask about sliding-scale options, as I offer a limited number of reduced-fee slots that occasionally open up.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

I'm deeply inspired by the transformative work of psychotherapy. It's a privilege and honor to listen to my clients' life experiences and stories. The strength, resilience, creativity, humor, wisdom, joy, and triumph my clients display, even in the face of intense pain and suffering, is awe-inspiring.

As part of my own journey to be present in my own life, I know firsthand how the belief that improving this or that can make you a better person or help you find happiness. While positive change can make life better, the message to change something because it's inherently wrong can be harmful, leading to insecurity and self-doubt. This message can distract you from your goals if your effort to be better doesn't acknowledge your deep wisdom and strength.

I aim to foster a safe therapeutic space where you can uproot your distractions and remove obstacles to seeing your deepest truths.

Importance of the Client-Therapist Alliance

I help my clients reflect, slow down, and better understand how their anger, fear, stress, and guilt may undermine their communication skills and ability to be emotionally present. We'll explore your inherent resilience, help you understand and nurture better coping mechanisms. This process of exploration can help you learn more about communications styles, master the art of emotional availability, and help you learn which intimacy patterns may contribute to feelings of disconnection.

The process can also ground your sense of self in a way that leads to a more authentic presence in the world, intentional and clear communication, a renewed sense of purpose, and more emotional depth in your relationships. The knowledge you'll glean from compassionate self-exploration helps you more authentically connect with yourself. That place of connection allows you to make flexible, creative, and free choices that boost your ability to cope with life's challenges while offering you peace within life's natural ebbs and flows.

I work to listen to you in a way that helps you hear and know yourself in a deeper, more honest, and fuller way. Whether you've sought therapy before or not, you already bring a great deal of wisdom and life experience to the process. We'll draw upon that in the therapy process.
