I strive to create an atmosphere of warmth, curiosity and compassion, where you can feel safe exploring your difficulties. I view therapy as a collaborative endeavor where we bring together your expertise about your life and my experience in helping people work through their challenges to figure out how to move you towards greater fulfillment. Through our collaboration we will look at how past experiences contribute to your present-day difficulties and help you gain insight into how to approach your challenges in new and flexible ways that get your needs met.

My goal, ultimately, is to help you access your strengths so that can feel empowered to break out of old patterns that may have felt constricting or unfulfilling and to take intentional action towards building a life that feels rich and meaningful. I love the work of therapy--it is a true joy to help people realize their goals and potential--and I hope to speak with you about how I can help you onto a path towards greater well-being.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I am a generalist, which means I am trained to work with the variety of issues that often bring people to therapy, such as anxiety, feelings of hopelessness, low self-esteem, and relationship difficulties. Having worked in the DC area for the past decade, I have a particular interest in helping people navigate the competitive and demanding culture of the city. Many people here understandably struggle with feelings of personal and professional inadequacy, difficulty maintaining work-life balance, and trouble setting boundaries with demanding others. If these difficulties sound familiar, I believe my experience would be a good fit for you--I have helped many people navigate these challenges through developing healthy self-esteem, self-compassion, and comfort with assertiveness.

How Psychotherapy Can Help

Psychotherapy is a powerful resource that unfortunately is not well understood in our culture. To help people better understand how psychotherapy can help I have created a site, Therapy Clarity, that describes the process of therapy and how it promotes healing and growth. If you are feeling ambivalent about therapy or simply like to have information at your disposal I encourage you to explore this resource at w w w . t h e r a p y c l a r i t y . c o m
