My Approach to Helping
I believe my role as a therapist is helping you to become who you want to be by realizing the potential you already possess. Through increased self-awareness, you can increase your self-esteem, improve your coping mechanisms which can improve your relationship with yourself and others, and therefore enable you to actualize your goals! With this philosophy, I have helped many adults to improve their lives. I also help children to improve their behaviors by providing a safe atmosphere in which they can share their thoughts and feelings through art, games and learning communication skills. Additionally, I help parents to set up rules and stucture in their homes and to use positive reinforcement to help their children to become responsible and confident human beings. It takes courage to begin therapy, so I provide an empathetic and non-judgment environment. However, because I believe in solution-oriented therapy, I encourage my clients to stay focused on their goals and I provide feedback, not just listening. This leads to your goals being accomplished in a shorter amount of time.
