My Approach to Helping
For nearly 20 years, I have worked as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) specializing in adult, adolescent, and family therapy. I hold a Master's Degree in social work from the University of Chicago, one of the top-ranked schools of social work in the country. Throughout my career, I have successfully helped clients struggling with depression, anxiety, separation and divorce, relationship issues, grief and loss, gender identity, self-esteem, goal-setting, life transitions, and other major life stressors.
I will work with you as an interactive, solution-focused therapist. I believe the relationship between the client and therapist is primary, and I work from a strengths-based and mindfulness-based perspective. With compassion and understanding, I help individuals build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they seek.
Currently, I am pursuing certification in Brené Brown's Connections work and in the Trauma Resiliency Model (TRM). These certifications will reinforce my ability to help clients address vulnerability and shame, which underlies most issues, and to address traumatic stress reactions from a mind-body approach that helps build resiliency and personal resources.

Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist
The relationship between the therapist and the client is absolutely critical: Research shows that relationship accounts for 30% of factors relating to successful therapy outcomes. No other factor comes close to being as important. So, when you choose a therapist, interview them on the phone before making an appointment. Pay attention to your reaction, what your "gut" says to you during this interaction, and choose a therapist who feels comfortable and relatable to you. Your therapy is important work, so make sure to take the time to find what you need.
