My Approach to Helping
I have been helping people become who they want to be since 2001. I have a Masters degree from the University of Toronto in Counselling and a Diploma from the Toronto Institute for Relational Psychotherapy. I have trained at the Stone Center, Wellesely College, Boston, in Relational-Cultural Theory and I have an Intensive Training Certificate from the University of Guelph in Sex Therapy. My approach is Relational, which means I focus primarily on how your relationships, both past and present, childhood and adult, function. In hearing your story, we look for patterns together. People often relate to others in the same way they have in the past, even though it may not be the best way for the present. Understanding these patterns can lead to breaking out of those that are no longer helpful. We will explore new ways of being together with others, ways that are good for you and the unique person you are and strive to be. I have also trained in short term approaches. If you have a very simple issue or a discrete problem, we can focus on it together in ways that will help you find a solution quickly. I have experience and training that covers many areas of human interaction. I am comfortable with the stories and life choices of clients from various communities including LGBTQ and other forms of alternative sexualities or relationship structures. I understand the broad spectrum of expressions of spirit and self. You can feel confident that your choices and identity, whether based in gender, culture, sexuality or spirituality, will be respected and celebrated when you work with me.

I often work under the supervision of a Registered Psychologist and can therefore offer my clients the ability to use their extended health benefits.
