My Approach to Helping
My approach to psychotherapy is holistic. This means that I work with the body, mind and spirit. I work with a fairly diverse population of people ranging in age from early 20's to late 70's from all kinds of backgrounds and issues. I combine my master's level training in Psychodynamic Social Work with Cognitive Behavioral work, Buddhist Philosophy and mindfulness training. I also offer those who want to move beyond talk therapy, a form of body-centered therapy called Core Energetics.

Core Energetics consists of "talk therapy" combined with energetic exercises designed to move stuck energy in the body, it is very empowering work.

I am a compassionate therapist, who helps clients explore their underlying fears and emotions in a safe and supportive environment. I am insurance reimbursable. If you are interested in setting up a consultation or just have questions I encourage you to call.

More Info About My Practice
I have a passion for helping others empower themselves. Some of my specialties include; helping others create love in their lives or bring more happiness to their current relationship, deal with anxiety/social anxiety from a body-mind perspective and get unstuck from a lifeless job or career.

I have private practice offices in both Manhattan and Brooklyn. Please call to check days and availability for each location. Sessions are usually once weekly and last for about 50 minutes in length. I have sliding scale fee arrangement based on one's income and resources. I can accept insurance that allows for out-of-network providers.

How Psychotherapy Can Help

Usually people come to therapy when they feel "stuck" or realize that something in their life is not working. One might be feeling depressed or anxious or realize that he or she is having a problem with relationships, work, money etc. How psychotherapy works is that, it helps the individual to recognize the particular life patterns that are not working for him anymore. Therapy also helps one to see how she is the one who is self-sabotaging her goals and desires. Often these negative patterns are created in childhood and we carry them (unconsciously) with us into adulthood. We learn how to relate to the rest of the world by how our parents or original caregivers related to us. When we were growing up, we learned to control different parts of ourselves in order to survive in our families. By bringing all of this to consciousness, we empower ourselves to live our lives from a happier place and transform our dysfunctional behaviors into functional ones.

On the Fence About Going to Therapy?

It is quite normal to feel ambivalent about therapy. I believe that therapy works, when you find the right therapist, who can connect with you and help you connect better with others as well. When you find a therapist who can listen carefully with care to what you are saying and help you connect with your inner truth, yet challenge your unconscious self-limiting beliefs you have found the recipe for real change and transformation.
