My Approach to Helping
Life brings challenges. Life also offers the possibility of meaningful connections, passion, warm sustaining relationships and satisfying work. We all have inherent worth and potential and yet sometimes you may find yourself in emotional patterns that drain you or that create blocks to a more deeply felt sense of peace and stability. As you strive to shape your life, you may encounter periods where you struggle with difficult emotions such as sadness, anxiety, resentment, or grief. These feelings may arise after a major transition or loss, or the painful emotions may be reoccurring and you feel like you are ready to work on them.

Psychotherapy can provide a critically useful tool for coping, healing, gaining compassion, and moving forward. Therapy offers a chance to shape your evolving life with more awareness.

I work from the point of view that psychotherapy is a creative and collaborative process. By this I mean it's a place where we delve into the present and the past as a way to shape your experience with more awareness and strength. Therapy is a thoughtful, practical and meaningful life-tool.

I'm a warm and interactive psychotherapist and I work with people to create deeper understanding, compassion and create positive change. While I have worked with many differing peoples, I work best with people who are curious, motivated, interested in thinking about new ideas, and willing to make a relationship with me. I've also worked with many creatives, professionals, students and couples.

As we meet together, I listen for what makes you feel more alive, more able, more connected, less shut down and less stuck and I move toward that no matter what school of thought my approach falls under.

The goal of therapy I want to offer is not limited to the relief of immediate experiences of distress but one that also works to encourage positive growth, develop the emotional capacity to have more fulfilling relationships, and see yourself in a more balanced light.
