My Approach to Helping
I am an MFT and SF psychotherapist offering individual & marriage counseling. I help couples review, understand, and transform relationships. I am highly experienced with lack of intimacy, marital affairs, emotional infidelity, and multicultural issues. Getting over an affair in order to save your marriage can be very difficult without assistance. I also assist with other problems such as loneliness, addiction, recovery, and depression. I am welcoming, sensitive and down to earth. I do not rely on prefabricated techniques or formulaic approaches. I believe that each therapy relationship is unique and contains within it the seeds for healing. My approach starts with a consultation to determine whether therapy can be of help.

More Info About My Practice
I have been seeing clients for 26 years and have taught at New College of California and U.C. Berkeley Extension. In addition to my work with adults and teens, individually and in couples, I provide consultation for practicing clinicians.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I help couples to heal from extramarital affairs. The fact that there has been an affair does not necessarily mean that your marriage is over. It does mean that there will be intense emotions involved that may feel completely overwhelming. However, many couples heal from affairs and in the process form a much deeper and closer relationship than every before. Many couples are reticent to try therapy because of the intensity of the emotions involved, for the person who had the affair, guilt is often most problematic. For the discoverer of the affair rage reactions are common, as well as the strong impulses to immediately end the marriage. This can alternate with hanging on at all costs and attempts to forgive and forget without really working anything out. Even though affairs are not uncommon, they are still usually traumatic experiences for everyone involved and deserve the utmost in terms of delicate and thoughtful treatment. I also assist individuals who are involved in affairs resolve conflicts that are preventing them from being at peace with themselves.

My Role as a Therapist

My commitment is to be mentally and emotionally present with you; to be available to form a relationship that over time feels safer and allows a deepening dialogue from which healing occurs, frequently in unexpected ways.
