Self-care should not wait until after hours or weekends. Restorative pauses are a must throughout the day for the prevention of compassion fatigue. This workshop will offer specific tools that harness the benefits of mindfulness as a means for personal care. Learn about a simple "tools to trigger" system for creating mindfulness habits throughout your workday. These well-being exercises are designed to be done while driving to work, sitting in front of the computer, before/during/and after sessions, and when transitioning to home. Let new habits of mind tap into your own neuroplasticity and provide escape from the monotony of autopilot.

  1. Identify four characteristics of the stress response that lead to burnout over time;

  2. List three differences between environmental strategies for stress reduction versus inner peace strategies;

  3. Apply the benefits of neuroplasticity in a simple system of linking tools to triggers;

  4. Acquire six simple tools for self-care that can be used before work, during sessions, and after work.

In short, participants will be able to listen to the event by calling in to our teleconference center. Meet the Presenter

Ashley Davis Bush, LCSW

Ashley Davis Bush, LCSW, is a psychotherapist, writer, and grief counselor in private practice in southern New Hampshire. Ashley has authored three self-help books, including the newly released Shortcuts to Inner Peace: 70 Simple Paths to Everyday Serenity and Transcending Loss.

Additionally, Ashley is a contributing Lifestyles writer for USDailyReview.com. She also publishes a monthly newsletter called Still Waters at her website and moderates two active support pages on Facebook, one for grievers, called Transcending Loss, and the other for those struggling with stress, called Shortcuts to Inner Peace.

Ashley has a Master of Arts degree in Social Work from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Smith College, as well as a certificate in Contemplative Studies through Smith College School for Social Work. Ashley worked in community mental health in New York City for ten years and has been living and working in southern New Hampshire since 1997. Ashley lives with her husband Dan and their blended family of five children.
