My Approach to Helping
I view therapy as a sacred and safe process in which to steady the body and mind while working to discover and reclaim the self. I take a whole-person approach when facilitating psychotherapy. My theoretical framework is a combination of insight-oriented, relational, dreamwork, somatic and transpersonal approaches.
More Info About My Practice
Our bodies are the signatures of who we are as expressed through movement patterns, gesture, voice, and facial expressions. It is through our bodies that we experience transformation, as change can only occur in the present. Most of us live a certain distance from our bodies. Through body-oriented/somatic psychotherapy, we begin to bridge the gap between our body and mind, and become more integrated. The body is a gateway to our unconscious feelings and emotions. When we tap into its inherent wisdom, we come to know our deeper truth. In somatic psychotherapy we mindfully track our sensations (breath, movement, tensions, openings) and develop a greater understanding and appreciation of how we have organized ourselves around certain beliefs and habits. Through embodied awareness, we can unlock holding patterns which no longer serve us and create more choices for ourselves. Questions to consider: What is the ground from which you move and integrate your life experiences? How do you hold yourself together when it feels as if everything has fallen apart? How do you ground yourself in the openings/questions/complexities of being fully alive?
